Therapeutic approaches
Through my journey as a therapist, I have never used one therapeutic approach in isolation. Depending on the client’s needs, we explore a combination of styles and develop a tailored approach.
Everybody is unique.
Person Centred Therapy
Person centred therapy is a form of psychotherapy that empowers the client to take control of their own mental well-being. It is based on the idea that the client is the best expert on themselves and has the potential to grow and change. The therapist provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment where the client can explore their feelings, values, and goals.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps people change unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. CBT uses practical self-help strategies that are designed to improve your quality of life. With a huge research base behind it, there is no shortage of different tools and exercise to try.
Ecopsychotherapy
Ecopsychotherapy is a relatively new form of therapy. It aims to take into account the natural environment, the connection we have with it and how this impact us. It works on the idea that we are intrinsically part of nature, this allows us to take a much larger lens to help us find our place in the world and conversely how we are connected with our natural surroundings on the day to day.
Artistic Expression
Artistic expression is a way of communicating thoughts, feelings, and ideas through various creative mediums, such as visual, auditory, or written forms. Artistic expression can help people express themselves, explore identity, and connect with others. No experience needed, it also does not have to be the focus of therapy but can be a conduit for relaxation and self-regulation.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy is a form of psychotherapy that helps people identify and change the stories they tell about their lives. It is based on the idea that people are not defined by their problems, but by their values, skills, and abilities. Narrative therapy helps people separate themselves from their problems and create new and empowering stories about themselves.
Mindfulness Techniques
Mindfulness is a practice of paying attention to the present moment, without judging or being distracted by thoughts, feelings, or sensations. It can help you reduce stress, improve well-being, and enhance relationships.
Neuro Affirming Care
Neuro affirming care is a therapy approach that recognizes and celebrates the diversity of human brains and minds. It challenges the traditional medical model, which views neurodivergent conditions as deficits or disorders that need to be fixed or cured. Neuro affirming care acknowledges that all neurotypes have unique strengths, interests, and support needs, and provides adaptations and supports that affirm neurodivergent identities.
